Bernadette Hoy is one of the experts featured in the 3rd edition of ‘Separating with Children 101’. This edition has been fully revised and updated, but Bernadette’s article on prohibited steps orders has been retained with high praise from the publishers.
‘Separating with Children 101’ is an invaluable first source of legal know-how designed to help every separating or divorcing parent. It came out of a will to document and share the common themes that arose from the thousands of calls and enquiries the publishers OnlyMums and OnlyDads receive every day from parents going through separation or divorce.
The questions range from the immediate and practical – for example “can I change the locks?” – to more strictly legal questions like “what happens to my Will on divorce?” before examining more specialist areas like domestic violence and mediation. Each question is answered by a mediator or solicitors from OnlyMums and OnlyDads’ hand-picked panel of trusted advisers.
But the book is not limited to providing legal advice. It also includes a wealth of tips and insights on how to handle the psychological impact of separation, what it means for the children involved and where parents can turn for further help. It is hoped these tips will save readers hundreds of pounds by helping them understand the issues so they can make the most of any time (and money) spent on legal advice, giving them more time to concentrate on pulling through what is a stressful, bruising period in both their and their children’s lives.
The publishers, OnlyMums and OnlyDads, are organisations with whom Collins & Hoy have enjoyed a long history.
OnlyMums and OnlyDads were set up with one aim, to support parents who are struggling to make the best decisions for their family during separation and divorce.
They provide a huge range of information and advice across their articles, publications and videos as well as offering access to professional support via their Family Law Panel and groundbreaking telephone one-to-one service.
The telephone one-to-one service has proved an enormously popular. It offers parents caught up in divorce and separation the opportunity to book a 35 minute phone call with someone who has the experience to help them.
Bernadette was thrilled to receive a handwritten card from the publishers thanking her for her article. However, Bernadette is happy to simply be a part of this landmark project:
“I am delighted to have been asked to contribute to ‘Separating with Children 101’. We have seen first-hand just how important the results OnlyMums and OnlyDads incredible work generates across all their channels. If they’d like any more articles or any other contributions to their growing range of projects, they only need to ask! Collins & Hoy remain fully committed to doing everything we can to help.”
