Kate is a solicitor specialising in Family Law. Kate has developed a busy and varied caseload advising clients in all aspects of private family law including divorce and financial settlements, cohabitation disputes as well as matters relating to children following the breakdown of a relationship.
Kate also has a wealth of experience in applying for and obtaining injunctions in cases of domestic violence to protect her clients and their children.
Kate is a member of Resolution and promotes a non – confrontational approach to the resolution of matters.
Kate is a proud member of Resolution’s Cohabitation Committee and takes a keen interest in work relating to matters relating to cohabitation such as cohabitation agreements and resolving cohabitation disputes on the breakdown of a relationship. Kate is passionate about reform of the law for unmarried couples.
Kate is acutely aware of the difficult and challenging time that separating couples and their children face. Kate provides caring, intelligent and practical advice to her clients and has developed a loyal following.
Kate studied Law at the University of Bristol and achieved a Distinction in the Legal Practice Course. Kate completed her training with E.M. Collins & Co and qualified as a Solicitor in 2010 and has remained happily at the firm ever since. Kate was delighted to be promoted to Partner in March 2022.

Divorce Proceedings
Successfully negotiated financial settlement for a client without the need for contested court proceedings. The settlement was formalised in the form of a Consent Order and sent to the Court to approve and seal so that the terms were binding on the parties. This settlement was negotiated in very difficult circumstances with the client first seeking advice when he was served with a Non Molestation Order that had been obtained without notice to him. Despite the acrimonious and contentious start the client was keen to avoid contested financial remedy proceedings and was delighted with the outcome.
Child Arrangements – Enforcement
Successfully acted for a client in Enforcement proceedings against his former partner for repeated breaches of a Child Arrangements Order. Secured reinstatement of contact at the first hearing and in addition successfully applied for increased contact over and above the original order.
Declaration of Parentage
Acted for a client who had been wrongly named as the Father on a child’s birth certificate. Despite repeated non-compliance of the respondent successfully obtained a Declaration from the Family Court that the client was not the Father of the child.
Injunctions
Advised client about protective measures that could be taken following an incident in the family home where their spouse had threatened to cause harm to them and the children. Acted swiftly to take instructions, draft the application and make an emergency application to the Court for a Non Molestation Order, Occupation Order and Prohibited Steps Order all of which were successful.
